    One of two ‘floating’ parkruns taking place in Witton Country Park, Blackburn and starting near the Pavilion Café – ideal for a post run catch up. The course is a tough loop on mixed terrain heading into the Woods on undulating trails.


    Run it as many times as you like between 1 January and 30th November, best time to count.


    Don’t forget to register with parkrun and to set your club as Ramsbottom Running Club and take along your Barcode.

    Brand new to the parkrun family a two lap course entirely on tarmac paths, it promises to be a fast and flat course suitable for our invasion. Run it as many times as you like between 1 January and 30th November, best time to count. DFYB.

    A three lap route on tarmac and gravel paths taking in both Avenham and Miller Parks, running alongside the River Ribble. If the event has to be cancelled due to bad weather on this date we will look at 25th January as an alternative. Don’t forget to register with parkrun in advance (with Ramsbottom Running Club as your Club) and print off your Barcode.


    Remember, parkrun operate a 'no barcode, no time' policy.

    Sunday 19 January 2020 | 11am | £20

    Back on the calendar for 2020 after a year off in 2019 this popular charity based run attracts plenty of local club vests lining up alongside those just trying to shake off the Christmas excesses. Starting on an Industrial Estate in Great Harwood before quickly heading out on to the surrounding trails, farm paths and parkland. There is an option to enter with donation included or to raise money for East Lancs Hospice if you so wish. Minimum age 15. (Junior race available).

    A well organised event hosted by Blackburn Road Runners, this friendly 10K starts at the Witton Park Arena in Blackburn where the Athletics track start gives way to an undulating course taking in the stunning scenery of the Pleasington area. A popular race that often fills up before race day so please enter early. Minimum age 15. (Junior race available).

    Completely off road on bridle paths and woodland trails with a potential for copious amounts of mud!

    Roddlesworth Roller

    Sunday 8 March | 11am | £8.40

    Back for a third year, it seems we just can’t get enough of this friendly and fully inclusive race.


    In its 32nd year, starting in Abbey Village and following the tracks and roads of Roddlesworth and Tockholes.


    Free cake and brew for all runners.


    Minimum age 16. (Junior race available).

    Sunday 29 March | 9.30am | £25

    Leaving the town of Darwen with an immediate climb to Chapeltown and Edgworth before a rollercoaster of hills with views of Pendle Hill and Longridge Fell and a fast 3 mile descent back to Darwen. Following country roads this is a testing but fully rewarding course run entirely on tarmac.

    Bolton parkrun

    Saturday 18 April | 9am | Free

    The annual Bolton parkrun event is sandwiched conveniently between Manchester and London Marathons this year ensuring all that want to join in can do. Usual parkrun rules apply, please register in advance on the parkrun website and DFYB (Don’t forget your Barcode) as parkrun operate a strict 'no barcode no time' policy. Please also ensure your Club is set to Ramsbottom Running Club on your parkrun profile to ensure we capture your time.

    Part of the Wray Scarecrow Festival from the beautiful village of Wray which was a firm favourite last year. Scarecrow Medal for all finishers.

    Wholan Nook 5 Mile Trail

    Wednesday 13 May | 7pm | £TBC

    Part of the Pendle & Burnley Grand Prix which is now in its 35th year this local 5 mile race follows the paths alongside Clowbridge Reservoir and beyond. Registration at Rossendale Valley Sailing Club.


    Minimum age 16.

    The final race in a month long series organised by race experts Cannonball Events. Runnable for all ability levels, fast, flat and electronically timed. Race HQ at Littleborough RUFC.

    Marsden 10 mile challenge

    Sunday 7 June | Time: TBC | £15

    A circular route taking in the stunning scenery as it climbs up to Wessenden, returning to Marsden for a fast finish. 8 Miles of trails and just 2 miles on road. Free post run buffet for all runners.

    Tor Mile

    Tuesday 16 June | 7.30pm | £5

    Another firm favourite, back on the Championships for a third year. This short 2km (1.2 mile) run takes entrants to the top of Musbury Tor, with 168m/551ft of climb with a pub finish, perfect for a Summer’s evening of racing.

    Sunday 28 June | 11am | £TBC

    A local, friendly 5K challenge through the trails of Radcliffe. Start/finish on the Cams Lane grass running Track.

    Who, What, Where, When – Who actually knows? Details to be advised nearer the time, fully inclusive distance and terrain with a social event to follow.

    Lee Mill Fell Race

    Wednesday 29 July | 7pm | £4

    Also part of the all new RRC Fell Championships, your run will count for both competitions (see separate rules for the Fell Champs). 10.7K long, starting in Bacup and climbing on to the Moors above Rossendale, reaching the Summit, ‘Top of Leach’ Moor with 332m/1089ft of climb.


    Entry on the evening only.


    Full Fell Runners Association Kit may be requested – further advice will be given.

    Tuesday 11 August | 6.40pm | £5

    Now a firm staple on the RRC Club Champs calendar, our very own race needs no introduction. Sprint, walk, jog a mile around the paths of Nuttall Park. A bottle of specially brewed craft ale for all finishers and a top night guaranteed.


    Enter early as this race does fill up.

    Worsley Woods 5 Mile Trail

    Sunday 27 September | 9.30am | £TBC

    This race was brand new in 2019. Replacing the traditional 5 mile road race, this new course takes runners from Roe Green Cricket Club down the Roe Green Loopline which is familiar to many from the Worsley Woods parkrun.

    Rivington Half Marathon

    Saturday 3 October | 10am | £25

    Organised by Chorley FC Women fundraising for their kit and ongoing facilities this challenging but scenic half marathon takes in the paths and rough trails of Bolton and Chorley. This race is not a beginner’s race however Bev will hopefully be providing some guided recce’s of the route in the months prior to the event having run the race numerous times before.

    Serpent 6 Mile Trail

    Sunday 25 October | 10am | £14

    Following the success of last year’s race we have included this for a second year running. The hilly, muddy snake shape trail race takes in the paths of Smithills Estate, affectionately known locally as The Serpent. Time2Run Events discount code applies, use Ramsbottom15off.
