Meet the Member

featuring Karen Leach (RRC120)

Hi Karen, tell us… what do you for a living?

I’m a Psychotherapist

How and why did you first get involved with RRC?

I responded to a post from Rowan on the What's on in Ramsbottom Facebook page a few years ago to go for a speculative social run from the

Brewery and went on the first run before RRC was born. I've dipped in and out since then but after joining Ann Butler and John Hall's 10 weeks to 10k group a couple of summers ago, I've prioritised it more and never looked back. What a life changing club!

What is your favourite running memory or moment?

There are loads but the top 2 have to be running past the RRC cheer station on the last leg of the Manchester Marathon relay last year and last year's Tor Mile: just a ridiculous and bonkers race but such great fun!

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us...

My uncle Joe (John) plays Eddie the landlord in Early Doors

Who would be your 4 fantasy dinner guests (dead or alive)?

Stewart Lee, Miriam Gargoyles, Alistair Campbell and Eddie Izzard

What is your pre-race routine?

Going to the loo 5,000 times. Then +1

OK onto the quick-fire round…

Favourite book?

A Confederancy of Dunces

Favourite film?

In public: Being John Malkovic. In reality: Die Hard

Favourite band?

Whoever I'm listening to on the day. Today, that happens to be The Stone Roses.

Favourite parkrun?

Burnley - my PB course!

Who is your running hero?

Ann Butler and John Hall....wouldn't be filling this in without them 😍

What would you choose as your Mastermind specialist subject?

The Labour Party - post 1997!

You are in lockdown and can only eat one thing for the next 21 days, what are you having?

Any curry with half rice half chips. I could eat that every day anyway!
